Fishing Reports May 8, 2013 trout, largemouth bass Fishing for rainbow trout has been fair, but since most of the trout caught have been 14 to 20-inches long, most anglers have been pleased with their catches. The Bureau of Land Management has one boat ramp open, but the campgrounds and other BLM facilities may not open until the middle of May due to budget issues. The water level is at 95 percent of capacity. |
Amazingly beautiful and scenic Hyatt Lake is located high in the Cascade Mountains in the northern corner of the Cascade-Siskiyou National monument. The lake and recreational area covers 745 acres and provides some phenomenal scenery with snow covered mountains in view most of the year. The lake is surrounded with forest land, numerous hiking trails and spectacular views.
The lake is open and accessible year round although fishing is regulated and only allowed from early spring to late fall. The lake has produced many trophy rainbow trout as well as some nice largemouth bass.
Hyatt Lake, like many other Southern Oregon Lakes, has a resort that is open year round. There are also two campgrounds, cabin rentals, a seasonal bait shop, boat ramp, moorage, R.V. sites, restaurants and day use areas. Whether you are looking to spend a day hiking and swimming with the family, fishing for trout or bass, or playing in the snow, Hyatt Lake provides year round family fun.
